چکیده

Stud ies of histopathologic changes in denta l lesions of leprosy patients were reported by Kitami (6), Tochihara and Murakami Cl), Hirashita (~,:I) , T ajiri and Kamio (X), I takura ( .1), Kamio (f.), and Asano (1). Most of the papers of these authors were published during the period before sulfones were used in Japan, On ly the paper of Asano belongs to the later period, when sulfones were employed commonly in the trea tment of leprosy, Almost all of the authors named exa mined the teeth of autopsied cases of leprosy; only a few used teeth extracted from patients, This paper reports elec tron microscope observations of the dental pulp of lepromatous patients, In the study we could see the details of leprosy bacilli and lepra cells in dental pulp more clearly than was possible in the histopathologic studies of the authors named above,

A comparison of the anatomical structure of odontoblasts and the connective tissue fibres in relation to the age of the patient.

The aim of this work was to study the structure of dental pulp (mainly the connective tissue fibre and odontoblasts) during the active production of dentine in relation to the age of the patient. The pulps of the teeth extracted for orthodontic reasons from a population of 10-50 year-olds were investigated with the help of a transmission electron microscope (TEM) and a scanning electron microsc...

Electron microscopy of ultra-thin sections of lepromatous peripheral nerves.

The submicroscopic structure of peripheral nerves are now being revealed by many investigators (1 , 2, 3, 8) using the high resolving power of the electron microscope. Stimulated by this recent progress in neurology, we have made an electron microscope study of ultra-thin sections of leprous peripheral nerves. In the present article we report on such a study of sections of great auricular nerve...

Association between Coronary Artery Sclerosis and Dental Pulp Calcification in Patients Attending Sari Touba Clinic, 2019

Background and purpose: Coronary artery disease is a major cause of mortality, morbidity, and disability in society and patients incur high expenditure on treatment. Pulp stones are ectopic calcifications of the pulp vessel walls, so, they can have similar pathogenesis as those of other organs and coronary atherosclerosis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between cor...

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between pulp stones and ischemic CVD. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive-analytic study on 20-25-year-old patients w...

Association between dental pulp stones and calcifying nanoparticles

The etiology of dental pulp stones, one type of extraskeletal calcification disease, remains elusive to date. Calcifying nanoparticles (CNPs), formerly referred to as nanobacteria, were reported to be one etiological factor in a number of extraskeletal calcification diseases. We hypothesized that CNPs are involved in the calcification of the dental pulp tissue, and therefore investigated the li...
